Sharing the Hope He Received
Miles McPherson Senior Pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego
Miles McPherson has many passions but none can compare to his desire to see people accept Christ as their Savior.
It was his decision to surrender his life to Christ that delivered him from a cocaine addiction in one day. That same day, April 12, 1984, he stopped smoking marijuana and reestablished a relationship with his girlfriend whom he married later that year. Providing people with the hope he received that day is what drives him every day.
That drive is what led to Miles, a former NFL defensive back with the San Diego Chargers, to become a youth pastor, Bible teacher and evangelist. Miles founded Miles Ahead in 1992 for the sole purpose of bringing the gospel to young people through Miles Ahead Crusades and multimedia outreach. Miles has held crusades in the US, Canada and Africa with over 45,000 people receiving Christ.
In 2000, he founded the Rock Church, one of the largest and fastest growing churches in the United States. More than 3,300 attended the first service in San Diego. Now an estimated 12,000 hear Miles preach at five services every Sunday.
The church recently moved to a newly-refurbished 210,000-square-food complex in the Point Loma area of San Diego. The state-of-the-art sanctuary seats 3,500 and a 1,600 square-foot high-definition picture screen enhances the experience. The church also founded the Rock Academy, a kindergarten-through-high school institution dedicated to excellent academics coupled with a vibrant spiritual life.
The Rock is known as a “Do Something Church,” with close to 100 ministries that reach out to the community in many ways.
