Wherever Your Are, Start There

How many ZIP Codes does your county have?

I live in San Diego County and it’s a big one — roughly the size of Connecticut. We’ve got more than 180 ZIP Codes here!

I’ve been talking to my congregation, the Rock Church in San Diego, about being “all in” when it comes to serving God. In November I suggested that we all choose a ZIP Code and commit to praying regularly for it. Hundreds of hands went up. The next day, we posted the idea on our church’s Facebook wall, and within 24 hours, a whole lot of people responded and named which ZIP they will be praying for. We will continue to encourage this until every square inch of San Diego County is covered in prayer.

This is a simple tool, and one you can use, no matter where you are and what role you fill. The point isn’t the Zip Codes, of course. It’s that God calls us to be ALL IN, wherever we live. Praying for and serving our local community. Now. Wherever you are, start there!

How about you? Are you ALL IN? I challenge you to see what God does.

Hey Pastor Miles, Will Mitchell here. I serve in leadership in MOTR and I am one of the 10AM RSM leaders. I was so encouraged by your challenge to the peeps today to begin spending an hour a day with God. Focused time, His Word, no gadgets, commentaries, distractions. Thsi very process is what God”s plan was for me that brought me to TRC in June of ’09. To be equipped to fully and completly hear His call and go where He wants you to work for His glory. Leslie my wife and I had been saved and began attending Mission Valley Christian Fellowship in Dec. of ’02. In 2005 Pastor Leo introduced this very plan to the church, by way of the same challenge and example you made today. He was going to do it and see what happened. Leo changed, lots of men and women in MVCF changed, I changed. Spending quality time with Almighty God our Father changes you. The commitment was not easy and took training just like anything else. It took a while for me, but soon I was looking forward to that hour every morning and felt robbed when It got cut short or delayed. For me it was in the morning early. It just didn’t happen at other times of the day, it was before dawn until I left for the construction site or likely not at all. As of 2005 I have read through the NT scriptures 14 times, OT 13 times in several translations and I’m half way through the 15th time now, cover to cover, (scanning Levitical ancestory or course) :) What I have learned most importantly is what I haven’t, if you get my meaning. God is so awesome and big, the more you know, the more the Holy Spirit reveals to you through obediently seeking His wisdom, the less you realize you CAN understand without God. Does that make sense? This process drives me. I have come to clear understanding of my calling, untill He changes it, to be a leader and teacher of men, in my home and in business. I’m a really imperfect screwup that is driven to honor God in doing better at any and all levels. I was All In when we came to TRC in ’09. The understanding of Gods calling on my life reluctantly moved us from MVCF to TRC, and brother has it been interesting, stretching and uncomfortable. WHAT A BLESSING! Hooking up with Pastor Ronnie, Rick and all the leadership in MOTR has been exactly what God had planned for me. I can never thank God enough for compelling Pastor Leo to take the step and challenge his congregation. Know that I am praying for you Pastor Miles as we all found ourselfs doing for Leo, as you will be spiritually attacked for this. Satan does not want mankind to be scripturally, prayerfully, relationally intimate with God the Father. By way of encouragement with this little part of the process that is my personal walk, don’t back down from this. His plan is perfect and for my part the last 2.5 years at TRC have been one miracle after another. Praise the Lord.
    Gods blessings and Love
